It is the first month of the year and many of us have set our goals and projects to improve our quality of life. Food and Life-style are generally at the top of the list and for a good reason.
When the topic is diet and health, genetics must be in context. Diet plays a big role in our epigenome* which consequently will have an impact on health and disease. The epigenetic can be thought as an add-on to the DNA like an additional set of instructions and these instructions responds to the environment which we are exposed. Unlike behaviour or stress, diet is one of the more easily studied and, so far better understood, environmental factors in epigenetic alteration.
